3RD QUARTER GENERAL MEMBERSHIP
MEETING AND POTLUCK DINNER
SATURDAY, JULY 19TH, 2014
FAIRBANKS PIONEER PARK
WE HAD A GREAT MEETING, WITH ONE CHANGE IN THE BYLAWS AND THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
THE MEETING WAS PRETTY SHORT AND SWEET SINCE OUR MEMBERS AND COMPETITORS WERE ANXIOUS TO GET OUT AND GET READY FOR THE SUNDAY COMPETITION.
THE POTLUCK WAS FULL OF GREAT FOOD PROVIDED BY OUR MEMBERS AND GUESTS AND SOME FANTASTIC BEER BRATTS AND HOT LINKS PROVIDED BY THE ALASKA BBQ ASSOCIATION.

Meeting Called To Order: 1906
Reading of Previous Minutes: July 2013. Approved as read.
Treasurer Report: Gina Minderman has been appointed as active Treasurer due to John Strong needing to step down.
Financials: Current $12,357.00. $4,900 transferred from paypay to AKBBQA bank account 7/18/14.
Gina is working with Quickbooks to get books in order.
New Business: Suggested Bylaw change. David Pruhs, President suggested that the President and Vice President voting process be changed to the same cycle/same year. Clint Hansen motioned, Bill Gibson seconded. Group present approved that President and vice president terms will be the same two years.
KCBS: David Pruhs applied for AKBBQA competition to compete in the American Royal. We were accepted. Qualifying dates will be August 1, 2013 thru June 31, 2014. We did not make the date cutoff’s with events this year but will be able to send next year. David did file for a date appeal but was denied. 2014 is an 11mo cycle, 2015 will be a 12 month cycle. The Board of directors along with Scotty and Katrina Auton will be working on having an event in Anchorage, Memorial Day weekend 2015 and can make this event the qualifier for the American Royal if not enough teams at the Fair-BQ 2014. There must be a minimum of 15 teams at this event in order to send winner to the American Royal. If we do not have enough teams at this event the 2015 State Champion will also qualify for the American Royal along with the Jack. Scotty Auton motioned for event in Anchorage, Ken Buggey seconded. Group Approved.
State Competition Budget: 10K with 7K in payouts. Approx 3-5% over budget.
Allen Shaw and Gene Gustafson were thanked for a job well done. Al and Gene thanked everyone for their cooperation.
FairBQ – 8/1 – 8/2/14 - FireSafe Chimney to sponsor. $2500.00. Genes also sponsored with food donations that Anthony Minderman and Daniel Wright prepared/ headed up and sold at Genes Car Show. Made approx. $500.00 to go towards FairBQ. Total prizes $3000.00 All 4 meats (Chicken, Ribs, Brisket, Pork) will be cooked. – 2 day event. Set up Friday night 8/1 6pm-8pm, Sites will be pretty good, lots of space. Tony to post more information as in becomes available.

Membership: Stephen Beazer no longer available – Position Vacant. David will appoint a new Membership director. No appointment available today.
